short version: I tried doing VBAC, and it seemed all ok at first, but then I just stopped progressing at about 6-7 cm dilation... despite having gut-wrenching contractions so painful that I was crying, screaming and moaning hysterically for hours. After some hours of active labor with non-progression, they tried breaking my water to get me to progress, but it didn't work. Then they tried administering an epidural to get my muscles to relax enough to allow progression.* But that didn't work either. So I ended up having to do another c-section.
Turns out my baby was enormous - 9 lbs 10.5 oz. This may have had something to do with why I stopped progressing.
Amusingly, a friend pointed out to me that Raphael was born on 6/7/08, weighing 9lbs 10 oz. That's pretty cool numerically. ;) We are both healthy and doing very well.
Good luck to everyone else :)
* the contractions continued ridiculously strongly after the epidural, I just mercifully couldn't feel them. We could tell though by the contraction monitor.
My doctor said if I was still pregnant by my next appointment (tomorrow) she wants to sweep my membranes. I'm just so miserable!!
People look at me like I'm a freak of nature. I get asked at least 10 times a day when I'm due and if I'm having twins.
I also hear people talking about me. "oh that poor girl, look how BIG she is" & "she looks like she's going to burst, she should be at home!"
:( BABY GET OUTTA ME!
Baby is not making any attempt to come out. I feel he will be in there forever and it feels like I have been this fat for an age.
I keep reading that other June mummy's are having their long awaited babies but every time I read a birth announcement I tell my little Bean, hoping he takes the hint. Do you think he listens? No is the answer to that.
I know it's normal to go over etc but it doesn't mean I like it. It's just the weather here in London is hot and my feet and ankles are swelling up making it harder and more tiring to waddle around. I keep getting this panic that I have forgot to do/buy something that I will need.
In a weeks time I have another hospital appointment to see a doctor to 'discuss' what happens next if baby has not arrived by then. (Please come soon!) They will probably perform a Sweep and see if that does anything.
So ( My last ever scary bump picCollapse )
- Current Mood: Hot and bothered
At 33 weeks I had bloods done and 2 weeks later got a letter from hospital telling me I was slightly anaemic (10.4) and would benefit from a basic supplement. This I got and had been taking. A Month ago I had my bloods re checked but hadn't heard from the hospital so assumed my blood count was back to normal. Yesterday I had my 40w check up and was told I was still anaemic at 10.2. This annoyed me as I wasn't told.
So now I have been prescribed Pregaday (Ferr Fumarate 322mg plus folic acid) to take for a month but after I got home and took one, I felt slightly nauseous and had a weird taste in my mouth but thought nothing of it. Took another today and felt sick all day to the point that I had to throw up not long ago. Seems more than a coincidence as I have not been sick like this since I had severe sickness in my first 5 months. Brings back horrible memories.
I had hoped I wouldn't be anaemic anymore by now as I didn't want to give birth and loose blood like you do seeing as my due date is this saturday 7th!
Just wondered if anyone had experienced this sort of thing and what did you do.
Also did being anaemic cause any complications during the birth with blood loss?

Have you installed your car seat yet?
Did you know a car seat is only as safe as it is installed? Most injuries to kids come in the form of being in an improperly installed seat.
Looks like I joined the wrong community, too! I was due June 10th, but had my beautiful baby boy May 31st! I'll post a birth story later, but for now I just wanted to introduce Joseph (middle name still pending!):

Congrats to all the other May mommies, and good luck to the rest of the June ones!
